Report: FNL Coming Back!*
*And now, the asterisk: it's not actually an official announcement yet. But TV critic David Bianculli (formerly of the New York Daily News, presently of NPR's Fresh Air) says that Kyle Chandler has told him in an interview that Friday Night Lights is all but certain to return for a third season. (Link thanks to TV Barn.) All that remains, Chandler says, is for someone to "dot the i's and cross the t's."
Somebody give them a pen, already!
About Tuned In
James Poniewozik writes TIME magazine's Tuned In column, about pop culture and society. Tuned In, the blog version, is about the stuff we used to call "TV," whether it's in your living room, on your computer or--once the networks figure out the technology and line up the advertisers--in your dreams themselves.

Related question - there are lists around that say when shows are coming back this season, but are there lists that say whether shows have been renewed/cancelled/or on the bubble? Like a Renewal Watch or something? Or have a lot of those decisions just not been made yet?

My favourite list like that is at Shouting into the Wind. The Futon Critic also has the Show Watch which is a more interactive (but therefore less at-a-glance) version - you can list by shows that are cancelled, fate to be determined, etc.

This made my day! By far one of the best shows on TV these days, but hopefully they go go back to more of a Season 1 mold than Season 2. Actually, either one is preferred to some of the shows on TV these days!

Anything that puts Tyra Collette and Lyla Garrity on my screen in the fall is excellent news.
@sks2702 - Amen. Season 1 was perfect, and I think the producers know it. They've hinted in recent interviews that A) the murder subplot & "Tim lives with a meth dealer" stories were mistakes, and B) that there would be much more football next season.
