Veepnesia
The prospect of McCain running against Obama is clearly driving some conservatives quite batty: Take Bill Kristol's assertion that McCain should tap Clarence Thomas. Yeah, because he's ....totally non-controversial! Another conservative columnist, farther down the food chain, has proposed Condoleezza Rice. Because she's had so much... success in international diplomacy! I don't want to get too far into critiquing the careers of Thomas and Rice; they're both clearly accomplished individuals who serve as role models to many. But I think we can avoid controversy and still be on firm factual ground to say that both have elements to their resumes that make them less than ideal candidates for the job of vice president in a McCain administration. You don't think Kristol and the other guy are implying that Thomas and Rice should be given the benefit of the doubt for some other reason, do you? Something not specifically based on merit?
Also I hate it when people use French aphorisms and don't translate them. Especially as a f'ing punchline. That's something a wine-and-brie liberal would do, Bill, non?
