These two emails came in, quite literally, two minutes apart, setting a new standard in rapid response:

In the public record there are 20 years of Hillary's tax returns, hundreds of thousands of pages of records from her time in White House and countless other documents detailing her time in public life. Sen. Obama's record is far more opaque.

Sen. Obama has not released his tax returns, except for 2006:

Obama has only released 2006 tax returns, ‘as for pre-2006 or 2007 returns, Burton says he ‘will keep you posted.’ Obama released his 2006 tax returns and said, ‘That’s been a policy I’ve maintained consistently. I think the American people deserve to know, you know, where you get your income from.’ “But it's not as though all Obama's returns from his entire time as a US Senator are available. Will Obama release all of those returns or, next month, his 2007 tax returns?…As for any pre-2006 or 2007 returns, Burton says he ‘will keep you posted.’” [ABC, 3/9/08]

He just called her bluff! This is what watching the Titanic go down must have looked like. Clinton is losing endorsements, finding that her record is getting obliterated, and she could very well lose or tie in Pennsylvania which would be a disaster. All of those new voter registrations = Good for Obama. Take away her experience factor and all you have is empty policy. Obama is not doing better. Clinton is just performing more poorly.

Email timestamps don't mean much of anything, they are not dispositive with respect to the times that emails were sent. A lot of things happen to a piece of email between the keyboard and the delivery. There is no master timestamper out there in the universe keeping everything in order.

It's more than that - If Clinton stonewalls on the release of her taxes, then we get to see all new charges of hypocrisy:

During Hillary's Clinton's New York race for the Senate in 2000, a man in an Uncle Sam suit calling himself "Tax Man" followed Republican candidate Rick Lazio around, demanding to know why Lazio was so slow in making his income tax returns public.

"The people of New York have a right to know what he's hiding," said Howard Wolfson, then a top Clinton aide who often trailed behind "Tax Man" feeding reporters campaign spin. "Rick Lazio's 15 minutes are up — he should stop making excuses and come clean with New Yorkers."

Eight years later, Clinton and her presidential campaign aren't making her income tax returns public. She's promised to release her income tax information on or around April 15.

Wolfson, now the Clinton campaign's communications director, won't say why Clinton wouldn't release her tax information earlier.

From being investigated by Ken Starr, to being like Ken Starr, to accusing others of being like Ken Starr. Priceless.

Oh, and where are McCain's returns?

Having said that…it’s "clear" who is trying to hide behind smoke and mirrors and who is not. It is your turn Senator Clinton!

The longer you stall, the more obvious it becomes that you will have a lot of explaining to do, if and when, you decide to release your tax returns.

Mrs. Clinton, please drop the lolipop and let the kid go. Step slowly away from the American people, and no one gets hurt. In other words what We want are
the facts,just the facts.As far as your tax returns are concerned, keep attacking Mr. Obama and drawing attention to the very thing that you do not want made public, and just like the other mud that has been slung, be prepared for major BLOW BACK.

Not that it matters all that much, but e-mail headers are EASILY forged and thus you cannot rely upon them for such details. There are some headers added to e-mails as they transition the mail servers that are less easily forged, but those generally aren't used or shown in your e-mail program unless you specifically ask for them to be displayed.

IOW, don't believe ANYTHING on an e-mail, not even the timestamp.

If you check out the transcript of Obama's interviews with the Chicago Tribune and/or the Chicago Sun-Times of a couple of weeks ago, Obama mentioned something to the effect that those papers had had those tax returns as of about a year ago.

As they haven't been able to turn up anything of note, I don't expect much will come of this. He's been quite transparent with them - even on Rezko.

I don't understand why the time stamps seem strange to you. That's the way emails are usually arranged - with the most recent at the top.

In any case, the important point here is that one candidate has provided access to information, and the other has not.

I'm sort of torn on this one personally Stuart, if you are asking for my personal views on the subject.

My pastor does not dry-hump the pulpit to drive his point home in any sermon I've been to in the past 20 years. I would need to think on this one for awhile to make sure personally, that my spiritual needs are truly being addressed appropriately by my pastor.

You carried it a step further and noted that you shouldn't believe anything you see in an email, which is great advice.

Actually, it's also quite easy to forge the FROM address in an email, which could make for quite a bit of enjoyable mischief if only someone could get a hold of a campaign's email distribution list. Fake press releases anyone?

Irresponsible Reporting:

In addition, it is disingenuous and irresponsible reporting to conflate mail arrival to mail sent time. Since the mail transfer agents stamp on individual servers stamp mail with their current local time, and those servers may not be automatically updated with the atomic clocks, the stamp on the email has no relevance whatsoever to the order of actions taken in the real world , which we all have to unfortunately share with reporters with particular, obvious biases.

I know sensationalism sells, but perhaps you should review your profession's ethical guidelines, and do a bit of personal introspection on just why you became a journalist in the first place.

The Clinton's has a fraud case in process--This is one more thing they are hiding.

Below is the case number of the actual case against Bill and Hillary Clinton for campaign finance fraud. The mainstream media has been blocking this information from all of their blogs and forums.

Also, they refuse to print any information about this case. The Clintons and company are being brought up on charges of fraudulently taking money from Peter F. Paul. They bilk this guy out of nearly 2.0 million dollars total, but he pursuing restitution for 1.2 million dollars.

This is very real. I have provided a link to the case so that you can see it for yourself. Please pass this on to everyone you know. I hope that this email gets to the people in Pennsylvania before their primary election.

Notice that the case is scheduled for hearing THREE days after the Pennsylvania primary. This is what the Clintons do not want us to know.

Hillary Clinton is really trying to dope us into thinking that she is honest and she really cares about Americans.
