Ohh man, her campaign did not pay for that production did they?
wow.
Posted by wittenborn | February 13, 2008 4:14 PM
With this video she's locked up the flamboyantly gay dancer vote. Now for everyone else...
On the plus side, if Hil ever gets her own talk show she's got a great intro...
Posted by Disenfranchised_Libertarian | February 13, 2008 4:15 PM
It's not a campaign production, but I also don't think it's a joke.
Someone (more than a few someones, by the look of the video) thinks that's an effective way to back their candidate.
Admit it... the song's stuck in your head now. But not in a good way.

Wow. Did you have to show that? I'm still digesting my lunch you know.

This was made by the Obama campaign. Genius... the freshest in new-school viral marketing.
Wait till you see the McCain stuff they got lined up.
Posted by wittenborn | February 13, 2008 4:18 PM
Ohgodohgodohgodohgod make it stop make it stop make it stop.
On the plus side, I suppose this video could go all viral. But in less of a "Yes We Can" way and more of a "Two Girls One Cup" way.

Cubiclewarrier,
I think 2 girls 1 cup is much more tolerable.
Shame on the witless Machiavelli who produced this. I think its a terribly cynical ploy to bring her campaign down for good

And was the guitar player also playing the drums in some shots? Can the Bad Session Players For the Truth please conduct an investigation?

Hmm... this is the end of Hillary's campaign. It brings a tear to my eye. It's much like the ending to Braveheart.
This would do well followed up by a Rickroll.

Posted by Disenfranchised_Libertarian | February 13, 2008 4:44 PM
Where do you think she got it? Andrew Sullivan's website (a.k.a. Hillary Haters R Us). Andrew and his husband clearly put this together in order to do in Hillary once and for all.
Posted by TeresaKopec | February 13, 2008 4:48 PM
The video is actually made by Hillary supporter Gene Wang. The New York Times reported on this months ago:

Eh - I'd rather jab a fork in my skull than ever be exposed to that again. Sure it plays well with the Branson, Missouri crowd though...

That's an obvious attempt at pandering to the really, really white vote.

This has 9000 views on YouTube.
It was put up last September.
It's got nothing to do with the campaign.
And is today really the day to be piling on?

Thanks Claudius. I stuck it through to the bitter end after turning down the sound to see the credits. I tried to search it out on YouTube, but couldn't find it. I did a Google search on Gene Wang, but quit before the NYT entry popped up.
Everyone seemed quick to assume it was from her campaign, but maybe I misunderstood the comments.
Posted by ivb | February 13, 2008 5:07 PM
To judge by her ridiculous posts (that's what, two now picking on stupid videos, one of them several months old and completely unconnected to the campaign?) belittling the Hillary campaign, Cox is probably angling for a few more invites to Matthews' shows. They're apparently on about the same wavelength, but foolish and addled in slightly different ways. Gives the empty headed nastiness a little variety.

jayackroyd, thanks for the context (or lack, thereof), of the video and its purported relevance to the current campaign.

In Hillary's defense, this is only the second worst amateur song to hit the internets this campaign.
Posted by THEO | February 13, 2008 5:26 PM
This is two in a row that first surfaced on Wonkette and then got plugged here within minutes. Either AMC is on the same e-mail list as Wonkette, or she's still cruising her old stomping grounds for good stuff.
So yes, I cringe, and I think it's a ridiculous, -RIDICULOUS- video. It's like the Republican rapper from the '92 convention. But I agree fully with jayackroyd. These videos deserve at the very least a 10-second vetting before being forwarded. Funny shlock out of context works great at Wonkette; not so much at Time.

Is this what we'd be subjected to as a inaugeration party?
Would attendence be mandated as part of her universal health care program?

(to be fair, I never was)
Posted by Aaron | February 13, 2008 7:30 PM
No, she's too old, and in too responsible a position, to be pretending that videos like this deserve even passing mention. But then, she's too old to regale us with tales of which bands she likes and dislikes, too, but she does so, anyway. She seems to think she's still in college, where giggling about "cool" is important. Maybe those were the good old days for her, and she finds life as a responsible adult a little more challenging than she would like. If that's so, she should do us a favor and retreat to the world of Wonkette, where she could sit around all day in her underwear recovering from her latest hangover, every once in a while to lurch over to the keyboard to display her razor wit by typing out a few words about a s s f u c k i n g. It might not pay very well, but it was easy, and the standards were lower than they are even at Time.

AMC still thinks she's writing Wonkette and is the fresh, cool "kid" in DC media circles, when the Washington Post was chronicling her adventures in butt-effing. She doesn't understand her shark has jumped. It's like watching Florence Henderson trying to be "cool" on VH1. Sort of sad, actually.

Posted by jose jose jose jose | February 13, 2008 10:11 PM
How interesting. It turns out that Cox is 35 years old. I challenge anyone to read her posts lately, in which she fixates on complete trivialities that are fit for nothing more than a high school gossip session just before the conversation turns to the really important stuff about who has "gone all the way," and interjects nonsense about which bands she hates! hates! hates!, and conclude that she's much over 20. I had personally thought she was in her late 20s and regretting every minute of it. But for chrissake, this stuff is coming from a 35 year old?. Where does Time find these people, and what does it do to them to make them behave like this?

Ease up on the hate Marty, just admit that this Hillary video was craptacular.
Is it a relevant substantive policy statement and in the grand scheme of this election does it mean anything? Of course not.
But it certainly is current from the context of the viral produced obama "yes we can video." That video has has been up on youtube for only a week, and at least two different links has over 3 million views.

I hope this is as bad as it ever gets.
Perhaps Scoobey-doo or The Archies as a retro spokes-cartoon for all the hip kids out there?
It is sad but with Ms. Clinton's self-destruction, and the Obama-mania that seems to have gripped this sad nation, that which seemed impossible is now likely -- the Democrats will now nominate someone that will lose the election in November.
Amazing Batman, amazing.
