Re: She Did Not Have Non-Tip-tial...
Oh, for heaven's sake. Just to show there are no new stories in politics (or maybe that should be "stories," with that whole air quote thing), consider this AP report from Hillary Clinton's first Senate campaign in 2000:
First Lady's Tip Is in the Mail
SECTION: National political
LENGTH: 111 words
DATELINE: ALBION, N.Y.
Sometimes it's a lot better late than never.
More than two weeks after Hillary Rodham Clinton left a restaurant following a free lunch without leaving a tip, the U.S. Senate candidate has sent an apology and a $100 savings bond to the waitress's son.
The first lady was served by Trish Trupo at the Village House restaurant in Albion on Feb. 8. The $6 meal was paid for by the restaurant's owner, Alex Mitrousis. The waitress earns $2.90 an hour before tips.
After some negative attention, Clinton called the waitress to apologize. The $100 savings bond was mailed Thursday, spokeswoman Karen Finney said Friday.
Calls to Trupo were not returned.LOAD-DATE: February 18, 2000
