I Hope John Ashcroft Has a "Safe Word"
There's a queer sort of dignity to Ashcroft volunteering to be waterboarded -- that is, if he actually goes through with it.
Ashcroft also responded to questions from the audience. The first question came from a woman who asked if Ashcroft would be willing to be subjected to waterboarding.
“The things that I can survive, if it were necessary to do them to me, I would do,” he said.

UPDATE: Yes, p_l, he didn't actually volunteer. He just said he was willing to do it. There is a difference. I do think, should he go through with it, he should get some credit for at least knowing what he's talking about. He's still wrong, but he's an informed wrong. An improvement, right?
UPDATE: "Knowing you're going to survive it sort or ruins the fun, don't you think?" Good point.
