Mike Huckabee has hit ten percent in a national poll, an accomplishment that a Corner correspondent puts in perspective:
I mean, he’s spent less than $2 million, compared to Romney’s $52 million, and is only 2% behind him in the national poll, and only 7 % behind him in Iowa, according to Rasmussen.
As if to solidify his status as a front(ish)-runner, I'm told he and McCain have agreed to share the stage (rather than go one after the other) at the AARP "forum" in Souix City tonight. (No other candidate agreed to participate.) There likely won't be fireworks, a la the last Republican debate, but there might actually be discussion of issues. The webcast is available here.

Consequently, my proposal is that I will like you to stand in as the next of kin to Mr. michael creek so that the fruits of this old man's labor will not get into the hands of some corrupt government officials. This is simple, I will like you to provide immediately your full names and address so that the Attorney will prepare the necessary documents and affidavits which will put you in place as the next of kin.
We shall employ the service of two Attorneys for drafting and notarization of the WILL and to obtain the necessary documents and letter of probate/administration in your favor for the transfer. A bank account in any part of the world which you will provide will then facilitate the transfer of this money to you as the beneficiary/next of kin. The money will be paid into your account for us to share in the ratio of 70% for me and 30% for you. There is no risk at all as all the paperwork for this transaction will be done by the Attorney and my position as the Branch Manager guarantees the successful execution of this transaction. Well, that means it might be interesting to watch for everyone concerned about politics (besides your colleagues).
The problem will be, of course, that there will be no real coverage of anything deemed "not fireworks" by the jaded, insider class tasked (in their own minds, at least) with serving up new Debate-flavored McNuggets to us, their alienated and increasingly bitter "audience".
Apparently they've confused us with the folks who DVR E! News (not that there's anything wrong with that)...

Why do trolls do it?
I believe that most trolls are sad people, living their lonely lives vicariously through those they see as strong and successful.
Disrupting a stable newsgroup gives the illusion of power, just as for a few, stalking a strong person allows them to think they are strong, too.
For trolls, any response is 'recognition'; they are unable to distinguish between irritation and admiration; their ego grows directly in proportion to the response, regardless of the form or content of that response.
Trolls, rather surprisingly, dispute this, claiming that it's a game or joke; this merely confirms the diagnosis; how sad do you have to be to find such mind-numbingly trivial timewasting to be funny?
Remember that trolls are cowards; they'll usually post just enough to get an argument going, then sit back and count the responses (Yes, that's what they do!).

Tristero has eye-opening discussion of Huckabee's work as governor of Arkansas to free murderer and rapist Wayne Dumond (via the Daily Howler). Dumond went on to murder again. Apparently, Huckabee was under a lot of pressure to free Dumond, because the wignuts believed the Clintons were somehow behind the murders. But Gail Collins of the Times tries to spin it otherwise.

I know the press seems to like Huckabee and gushes at how "likeable" he is, but he a right-wing loon who doesn't believe in evolution. Do you honestly think there will be a candidate running for president who doesn't believe in science. Oh wait, I forgot. We are talking about the GOP. Never mind.
