I think Amy Sullivan nailed it. Lehrer is acting like a family therapist.

Plus, McCain just said "my friends" for the first time. He's getting his groove.

UPDATE: More earmarks. Commenter Jarais calling this "the D.C. gateway drug."

Lehrer needs to get this debate back.

Some groove, McCain is doing terrible so far. He's just not used to debates without loud audiences pumping up pol blather. Without the crowd energy, he has to instead rely on substance and solid words and so far has just seemed petulant and moronic.
