"Respond Directly to Him"

I think Amy Sullivan nailed it. Lehrer is acting like a family therapist.

Plus, McCain just said "my friends" for the first time. He's getting his groove.

UPDATE: More earmarks. Commenter Jarais calling this "the D.C. gateway drug."

Lehrer needs to get this debate back.

Don't make trouble. Stay out of trouble. What's eating you? What happened?642-105 / 70-643 / 642-373 / 642-825 / 156-215.1

He is falling apart. This is like the first time you have to change a parent's bed... toward the end...

Lehrer: "rule the country" rule??? That doesn't sound right.

That is a great suit O is wearing... great color, with a little green in with the blue...

I will not be able to afford that suit with McCain's tax plan... so I think my mind is made up.

McCain is all over the place. What a mess. Spending freeze?

Again, McCain: "I WANT TO FREEZE ALL SPENDING! cept military, cuz so we can has bombs in iran"

Obama: "?? WTF? Dude, chill."

In the past, McCain would have a suck-ass audience to save him and it's not here now.

Hatchet vs. Scalpel... nice

Crud, I just got signed in and this is confusing...why didn't Obama bring up Palin's stupid earmarks?

Nah. JP and Karen are still getting the liveblogging thing down...

wow McCain is out of control. Not a good showing.

Obama makes a very good point about healthcare and personal bankruptcy.

Senator McCain's necktie is hypnotizing me.

Help us out, KT.

We can't quite have a conversation like this...

The threads are in a thousand places. No one place to see comments. What a mess. Are the Republicans in charge of Time blogs tonight?

Some groove, McCain is doing terrible so far. He's just not used to debates without loud audiences pumping up pol blather. Without the crowd energy, he has to instead rely on substance and solid words and so far has just seemed petulant and moronic.

How about one thread per topic

Obama just mentioned the oil company tax breaks that Michael Scherer nitpicked as distortion...

Wait -- no, I thought I was quoting McCain who was quoting someone else.

Debate or mud wrestling match? You decide!

Please one thread!

Which one of these threads are we supposed to be responding in?

O my dirty laundry is everywhere!

Shot!

Can you update within one thread?
